Kelsea is a committed Dance Educator who is keen on sharing her passion with those she teaches. She has worked with a variety of dance syllabi including ADAPT, BATD, and Acrobatic Arts. She has 13 years of experience teaching all ages, levels, and styles of dance, with a strong focus on tap dance.
From a young age, Kelsea knew her passion was within the arts. Growing up as a competitive dancer in a studio, attending high school as a student of O’Neill CVI’s Performing Arts Programme, and continuing her education at York University with Bachelor of Arts Dance Major, Music Minor, and Bachelor of Education.
In relation to her dance training, Kelsea has extensive music training as a drummer and percussionist. She has toured Nationally and Internationally performing in an award-winning jazz band. She has had the privilege to perform for audiences in Venice, Florence, Rome, Chicago, New York, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and more. Kelsea has performed in highly sought after venues such as The Hard Rock Cafe, Canadian Parliament, Professional Sports Games and more. She has accompanied live dance and choir performances, as well as competed in National Music Competitions. Kelsea strongly believes that her love of music, drumming, and rhythm has drastically improved her tap teaching and choreography.
Kelsea has many notable accolades and awards when it comes to her professional career. Most recently, she became a World Medal holder with the 2018 Canadian Tap Team at the Tap World Championships in Germany. She has been the recipient of the Top Choreography Award and Highest Tap Mark of the competition at several dance competitions. She has been the teacher and choreographer for the 1st Place winner at National Dance Competitions, and has had the absolute pleasure of watching her students use their passions and hard work to bring her choreographic visions to life.
Many of her students have transitioned into the professional dance world both as performers and educators. Several have gone on to University Dance Programs & Teams, as well as Raptors Dance Pak, Team Canada, World Performers, Canada’s Wonderland and more.
Kelsea strongly feels that her unique strength is reviving the lost love for the art of tap dance. She prides herself on supporting a successful rise of the underdog. Confidence leads to success. She is all about laying the proper ground work in a dancer to help them build a strong foundation, maintain healthy training without injury, gain confidence, and allow their passion to flourish. She’s looking forward to continuing to share her passion with every student she teaches.
